Sara Gold is a queer/non-binary multidisciplinary artist, known for their unique approach to crafting experimental hardware techno and cinematic soundscapes.

Operating within a sort of democratization of electronic music production, gold uses thrifted, gifted, loaned or flipped gear to create their signature sound. Rather than accessing the boutique synth world, Gold utilizes vintage analog large format mixers and various audio equipment routed into themselves in an experimental audio engineering technique known as no-input mixing.

In addition to their music, Sara also creates short conceptual films weaving them with live performances, altering senses through sight and sound. Wielding a dusty arsenal of vintage analog electronic music equipment facilitating a higher state of brain activity and function through repetition and an array of full frequency tones and sub-bass drones.

The Roland TR 909 is at the heart of Gold's creation, with large expansive reverb filling out the body, side-chain compression as the mind, and no-input mixing as the soul. coaxing the listener into a series of dystopian wormholes.

This ep is a culmination of 20 years of live experimental electronic new music performances with unconventional instrumentation and techniques inspired directly from big room techno. From the beginning Gold wanted to inform their practice by their continued lifelong experiences and love for dance floors and rave culture. With a strong, established background in weird noises, Gold now enters a new era.

We Are Not Above This is a love letter to Dolly, a queer underground dance space operating on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations AKA Vancouver, British Columbia.
